Dean was needed outside apparently -- to help Bobby work on a car. It was always nice to be needed, not to work on a case, but to help Bobby out on something like this.

Despite any awkwardness, Dean was leaning down, looking under the hood and listening to Bobby tell him what they needed to work on. This let him work off some of that nervous energy anyway.
