Out in the World (For
forgetsthings)
It was still unreal to think that Norma was out of their lives, for a long while anyway. Deep down, Dylan had thought she'd find some way out of the conviction, that something would happen... but nope. They pinned the murder on her easy with the evidence they'd found. No doubts about it in their mind.
So that meant he had to keep good on his word of getting them a house, which he did. A beach bungalow with two bedrooms, nice view... a place he thought that they'd both love and a place he thought Norman could find some peace, could have a normal life. He was excited about it, honestly.
He knew that made him a dick, probably. He was excited to be away from Norma, to have Norman away from her too. No more crazy to deal with, no more temper tantrums when she couldn't have exactly her way... and no more watching her drag Norman down with her.
It was going to be a great life, he just knew it.
They just had to get over the bumps.
They'd only been at this a few weeks though, he told himself. Norman loved his mother in an almost creepy, co-dependent way that had grated on him, but it made sense that he wouldn't be entirely okay. Not for awhile.
He just had to be patient. Or something.
And he just had to show him how much cooler it was to be living out on his own, with a brother that wouldn't try to control him the same way Norma always did. Hopefully that'd do the trick.
It was just after six when he made it back to the house, carrying a bag of takeout. He gave a look around for his brother and when he didn't see him, made his way towards the kitchen. "Hey, Norman! Got food, come and get it."
